Crystals For Menstrual Cramps

Some women are lucky enough to say that they hardly even know they have their period, as far as pain is concerned. But, for many women, the arrival of menstruation becomes a painful experience that they inevitably experience every month.

Of these, around one in four tend to suffer from dysmenorrhea, which consists of painful menstruation. Abdominal or pelvic pain arises just before lowering the rule and can last up to 48 hours afterward.

In addition, it can be accompanied by other related symptoms such as waist and back pain, headache, dizziness and nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

It is possible to have an excellent tolerance towards pain, and it is a positive thing not to be dominated by the fear of pain, but we do not need to endure it head-on. There are many options, from exercises to crystals for menstrual cramps, which will make a difference in approaching this time of the month.

One of the most important things that we can do for ourselves, and that is on the cusp of responsible and holistic self-care, is to make time for ourselves and live our processes. It is necessary, especially during menstruating and even before (in the premenstrual instance, when the world can seem to be falling apart).

This moment, which involves pain, wear, and tear both physically and emotionally, should be sacred because it is a deep connection with the universe, life, death, darkness, and uniquely female knowledge. For that and for many other things that we will talk about later, we enter a moment that is should only be dedicated to stopping, finding shelter, and connecting. To feel everything you need to feel might also mean to be a little selfish with the rest of the world who only knows how to demand.

And yes, I know. Perhaps talking about stopping and living this process in the moment might sound like crazy. Or even a luxury in the midst of your external responsibilities, working, studying, and everything else that requires action.

Let’s be honest; the world is consuming us. The pace of life that we lead does not allow us to stop for more than five minutes, not let us go inward, or pamper ourselves. Nor does it give us at least one day to stay home because there are so many things to do! Sometimes we think that there is no time and that those responsibilities come first.

I have noticed in the lives of women around me since a few years back that when we believe that we do not have that time, that space to feel, what we do with pain is anesthetize it. Take one of those famous colic pills, and that’s all over the place.

There are so many ads for different pills that it seems that you are not responsible if you are tired, have a cold, or a headache, and decide to rest in order to heal.

Clearly, it is not so because the genuinely irresponsible thing would be to fill your body with chemicals, many of which (as ibuprofen) have been proved to be dangerous to your health.

Pain medication is helpful as the alternative, not the main answer to every change our body goes through.

But as the main question will always be what to do when pain is unbearable and ordinary life is not possible, this is an excellent point to start thinking of a few proven ideas.

A Few Strategies

It is essential to realize that you do not need to hurt your body and mind to live without pain. Nor this has to be an expensive lifestyle.

These alternatives that I offer you not only take away the pain, but with practice, they are good tools to help you heal each cycle deeply. They will help you pamper yourself, listen to you, and take care of yourself a little more. I assure you that you will fall in love with the results.

Remember that menstruating does not have to hurt excruciatingly on a physical level. Herbs, exercises, and crystals for menstrual cramps should be more than you need to keep yourself healthy and harmonized.

Though a certain degree of menstrual pain is expected, please be aware of how intense it is. If you have unbearable cramps or unusual bleeding, you should go to the doctor as soon as possible.

Herbal Infusions

I am the first to offer anyone who knows me an herbal infusion to remedy just about anything. You won’t believe how wonderful a good tea can be for the body, the uterus, and the soul.

There are herbs “for all evils”: to remove colic, relieve tension, calm the mind and rest better. It can even help us deal with difficult emotions that we can heal with a bit of love and time. Infusions help us not only with physical pain, which is the one we feel the most urge to alleviate, but it can also be excellent when it comes to emotional pain; it can quickly and naturally soothe your emotions.

In addition, it is very common to suffer colic for what they call “cold uterus,” and a tea, sometimes for the simple fact of being warm, when drinking it and having it close, relaxes the muscles and promotes blood flow. The sensation is of instant improvement.

The idea anyway is not to treat herbs as sedatives and nothing else. The most exciting quality of herbs is, in particular, how they can help us through a process, through our ancestral and magical relationship with them. Always use them with your conscience open and your intentions clear.

Heat

As I mentioned, heat is essential in allowing relaxation to happen; it prevents the uterus from tensing during menstruation. Sometimes, it is all you need to feel better.

A heating pad or hot water compress is an easy and comfortable way to warm yourself. You can buy it online or at your nearest eco market, but it is also straightforward enough to make it yourself.

To make a hot compress: Dip a washcloth in very hot water, put it in a bag, and then on your body until the temperature drops. If it burns, you can put it on a blanket. Repeat as many times as you want.

Another way is to fill a sock or socks with rice and heat it in the microwave for a few seconds. If you want, you can add essential oils to the rice. It’s easy, inexpensive, and conforms perfectly to any part of your body. Lie down or sit in a space that you find comfortable. You can use it on the belly, in the lower back, and even on your feet while you meditate, read, watch a series on TV or just sleep.

You can make this even easier with a thermal blanket. A bath with hot water is an alternative, as long as you don’t feel cold right afterward.

Crystal Therapy for Menstrual Cramps

The sexual chakra or Svadhishthana is located right where your uterus is; knowing this chakra is one of the most critical steps that can lead you to heal. Meditation with quartz or a rose quartz crystal to cleanse the chakras is an outstanding practice that provides excellent results in all levels (emotional, physical, and spiritual), bringing harmony to your body and mind. It is a tool that you can use as your central meditation, as it is also a profoundly cleansing practice. And especially when menstruating, it helps to relieve the pain.

The best way to do it is by lying on your back. Take the quartz, put it between the navel and the pubic bone, preferably in direct contact with the skin, and focus on your breathing through that chakra. Direct the prana (energy of the air) towards this point through visualization. It is easier than it seems.

It is a technique that can work very well with any visualization technique and controlled breathing, but the simple fact that the quartz is in contact with your body is more than enough, so do not worry about anything and let it act. It is a deep cleansing that will make you feel better physically and emotionally, and spiritually with recurrent use.

Other wonderful crystals for menstrual cramps are carnelian, red jasper, and orange calcite. They are not hard to come by, and they are not very expensive either. I promise you that using quartz is going to change your life.

Massages and Balms

Natural balms are also perfect for giving love to the body, applied in a massage. In the pelvis, belly, and lower back, they help to relax the muscles and warm the body before and during menstruation. In addition, the result will be more beneficial if you use natural oils and herbs with anti-inflammatory properties such as chamomile, calendula, or geranium.

Yoga

Some asanas (yoga poses) can help ease pain during your period days.

Among the most effective, you will find that of the child, the butterfly, or the dove. Any of them will help you relax for a few minutes.

To do the child’s pose:

  1. Begin by kneeling on your yoga mat, on your hands and knees.
  2. Make sure the thumbs of your feet are together. Spread your knees about the width of your hips.
  3. Exhale as you slowly lower your glutes so that you sit on your heels and feel your tailbone lengthen from the back of your pelvis. Keep your back straight.
  4. Lean your torso forward, over your thighs, and lengthen the back of your neck until your forehead rests gently on the floor.
  5. Place your arms stretched out to both sides of the body and back, leaving the palms of the hands up. Your hands should be at approximately the same height as your feet.
  6. As it is a simple posture to maintain, you can hold it for as long as you want or consider it necessary by taking several breaths. However, it is recommended to keep it for a minimum time of 1 minute and not exceed 5 minutes.

Asana of the Butterfly:

  1. Sit down and bend your legs by joining the soles of your feet with the pads together.
  2. Let the knees drop to the sides and bring the thighs into internal rotation.
  3. Bring your heels towards your pelvis, keeping the outside of your feet on the floor.
  4. If you can, support your feet with your hands.
  5. Bring the tailbone to the ground but keep the sacrum forward and from there lengthen the spine by stacking the pelvis, shoulders, and ears.

The dove:

  1. Kneel and place one leg bent forward.
  2. Stretch the other leg back.
  3. Place your hands on the floor at the sides of your body until your groin is on the floor.
  4. To bring the groin to the ground, move the heel away from the bent leg as necessary and lift the knee, contract the glute of the straight leg so that it does not pry.
  5. Then bring the coccyx towards the pubis, pull in the abdomen, and pull down the shoulder blades to direct them to the coccyx. Stretch your arms over your head with your palms together.

Remember that if you feel uncomfortable with any of these postures or they cause you pain, it is better to rest and change to another posture.

We Are All Unique

Keep in mind that each one lives its processes in different ways, and there will be one or another alternative that works better for you. You can always combine them and accompany them with a lot of love, relaxation, and your favorite activities. An attitude of acceptance and self-love is an integral part of healing as it is of general well-being.
